Requisites and Guidelines for Celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage

Congratulations on your proposed marriage! We are happy to be part of this very important day in your lives and so significant a day in the circle of your families and friends. The following requisites and guidelines are meant to help make that day as wonderful as you hope it to be.


The parents must be Parishioners at least 1 month prior to signing up for a Baptism. If the parents are not parishioners and do not live within parish boundaries, the parents must get a permission letter from the nearest parish in order to baptize at our Parish. If the parents of the child are not married by the Roman Catholic Church; they can still have their child baptized God parents, if married, MUST be married by the Roman Catholic Church. If the Godparents are single and are not a couple then they MUST have their Confirmation. After all requirements are made, both Godparents and Parents must take a pre-baptismal class. Classes are offered once a month in the Fontana center only. The address of the Fontana Center is 7650 Tamarind Ave. Fontana Ca. 92336. The English class is offered the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30PM to 9:00PM and the Spanish class is offered the first Saturday of the month from 9:30AM to 4:00PM. In order to sign up for the classes you must have already signed up for a Baptism date and met all prerequisites. Sign-ups for the Baptismal classes are made with the Parish Secretary: Mayra Tranquilino at the Fontana center. Please contact her at (909)822-4732.

Required Documentation

  1. An initial interview with a priest and completion of the pre-nuptial questionnaire;
  2. Baptismal certificates not older than six (6) months;
  3. A brief interview with someone who can testify to your freedom to marry, e.g. a parent (one for the Bride and one for the Groom);
  4. Completion of a Pre-Cana or other approved prenuptial program;
  5. A valid marriage license which can be obtained at:

  1. You will receive a booklet to help choose the parts of the Marriage Mass/Ceremony you prefer, e.g. Readings, Prayers;
  2. There will be a rehearsal which usually takes place on the Friday (Fontana Center) or Thursday (Rialto Center) prior to wedding;
  3. It is your responsibility to contact musicians for the Mass/Ceremony. Only appropriate music for a sacramental celebration will be allowed. The musicians should consult with the priest before selecting the music;
  4. Rice or seeds are forbidden and avoid taping decorations to the pews;
  5. During the Mass/Ceremony, the photographer cannot be on the sanctuary where the priest presides over the Mass;
  6. An offering of $300.00 for parishioners, $400 for non-parishioners, is made on the occasion of a marriage, if possible.
